The idea of me wearing a bikini is ridiculous, right? I’ve never worn a bikini in my life. Even as a teen, I had a belly and had no idea what to do about that. I have always been self-conscious about my mid-section. I distinctly remember two boys sitting behind in middle school, counting the rolls of fat around my middle and laughing. It was about this time that my mom and I started the same diet – one 1/4 cup cottage cheese on plain wheat toast for breakfast, every morning. Yuck! I wasn’t even that overweight – just out of shape. The memories of those middle years stayed with me though, and my belly was not going to ever see sunlight if I could help it.
Keto has given me a new idea of what’s possible. My husband is at the lowest weight of his life, and looks amazing. He had no idea he could even get so lean (until keto). So why can’t I do the same? Could I wear my first bikini at 49? I just bought my first bikini from Title 9. Not some sexy thing, but hey – it’s two pieces! I also picked up Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide and I’ve decided to go for it. I’m posting here to keep myself accountable!
Week 1: Honestly, this is harder than I expected. How can it be that hard? It’s just 7 minutes a set x 4 sets! You’re supposed to run through the exercises as many times as you can in 7 minutes. Instead, I went through each series one time, which took about 5-6 minutes. That was enough for me. At the end of the third workout, I felt pretty sick. It’s that hard. Week one – done!
